The Global Platform Workers Solidarity Project is growing collective power to shape platform work that respects workers’ rights and dignity, influence investors and capital, and collaboratively develop worker-centered alternatives.

We welcome grassroots gig and platform worker organizations and allies of many formations, including collectives, localized groups, networks, and unions, who want to work together to democratically design and implement creative global strategies to:

  • Strengthen and secure workers’ rights, safety, and economic conditions;

  • Grow workers’ collective power through education and transnational exchange of organizing strategies and intersectional frameworks; and

  • Create worker-centered alternatives to the dominant exploitative model of platform labor.

HISTORY

In June 2025, GPWSP’s seeds were planted. 37 gig and platform workers’ collectives convened alongside the negotiations on decent work in the platform economy at the 113th International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva. Following this, the worker organizations present at the side convening launched the Global Platform Workers Solidarity Project.

Our co-secretariats, The Interfaith Center for Corporate Responsibility (ICCR) and Equidem, provide support and coordination to keep initiatives moving forward.

Educate, share, and empower:

GPWSP cultivates a space for sharing wins, strategies, legal tools, communications, and research across languages, geographies, and sectors. We learn from one another as well as other intersectional movements.

Win transnational regulation:

GPWSP is mobilizing gig & platform worker organizations alongside civil society and responsible investors to negotiate and WIN the strongest possible ILO Platform Work Convention and other binding and enforceable legal instruments such as the EU Platform Work Directive, and within the G20, BRICS, and COP negotiations.

Global collective action:

With the support of allies in civil society, responsible investors, and other movements for justice, the GPWSP supports workers’ organizations in strategizing and taking global collective action for strong workers’ rights protections within multinational platform companies.

Worker-centered alternatives:

We aren’t just defensive. We are growing something new: ideas, campaigns, formations, and even platforms which offer alternatives to the dominant exploitative model in the digital economy. We are putting forward creative, worker-centered alternatives!
